for information about the facilities. The University's 'Kent
Hospitality' team have also provided a
brochure for download. More news and information will be added
during the coming months including an online booking system for
accommodation.

Congratulations to GM David Howell British Champion 2009 and IM Jovanka
Houska British Womens Champion and also English Womens Champion 2009.
Championship: Howell 9, Hebden and Williams 8½,
Palliser 8, Conquest and Gormally 7½ ... 76 players.
In round 11 -
Simon Williams beat Stephen Gordon in a fine attacking game in 31 moves and
Richard Palliser won again, in what must be his best ever British
Championship performance, by beating Peter Wells in 26 moves. Senior player
John Sugden won a very well played ending to finish with 6½/9. George
Salimbeni and James Hanley played the longest game of the day, a BvN draw in
105 moves.
The last game to finish between Andrew Greet, playing white
against Stuart Conquest (left), ended in a 76 move win for black. A results
round-up will be posted soon.

won the Under 16's girls title with 4/7.

Abigail Pritchard won the Under 15 girls with 3½/7.
Under 13's Felix Ynojosa 6/7. Radha Jain & Maria Wang shared the
Under 13's girls title with 4½/7.
Under 11's Tarun Malhotra 6/7. Anna Wang won the Under 11 girls title
with 5½/7.
Under 9's Rohan Shiatis 6½/7. Nandaja
Narayanan won the Under 9 girls title with 3/7.
Under 8's Ryan Nathan Au 5½/6. Imogen
Turvey-Cross won the Under 8 girls with 4/6.
Danny Gormally and Gawain Jones won the 1st rapidplay with 5½/6
and Alexander Cherniaev won the 1st with 5½/6.

Grandmaster Stuart Conquest, rated 2572, has confirmed his entry to this
year's Championship.

Manuel Weeks has had to step down as British Chess Championships Manager
for personal reasons. Stewart Reuben has taken over all the functions
for the event, that starts in Torquay 26 July. The event comes under him
as ECF Director of International Chess. All queries should go to including any sent to Manuel to which he has not responded.
